Red Hot Chili Peppers Announce the Return of John Frusciante

He’s back!! The Red Hot Chili Peppers announced yesterday that they were parting ways with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer after 10 years and welcomed guitarist John Frusciante back to the band.

Klinghoffer was the bands touring guitarist and replaced Frusciante when he left the band in 2009.

Frusciante first joined the band in 1988 after Hillel Slovak’s death from a drug overdose.  He was band’s guitarist on 1989’s Mother’s Milk and 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik, the latter of which broke the group into mainstream success with hits like Give It Away and Under the Bridge. Frusciante left in 1992 (and was replaced for an album by ex-Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro) before rejoining for 1999’s Californication, 2002’s By the Way and 2006’s Stadium Arcadium. Frusciante left the second time during the band’s hiatus in 2009 to focus on his solo career.
