Fountains of Wayne Co-Founder Passes Due to COVID-19

Adam Schlesinger, the longtime Fountains Of Wayne co-leader who also composed catchy songs for movies and TV, has died of complications from coronavirus. He was 52-years-old.

Born in 1967 in New York City, Schlesinger co-founded Fountains Of Wayne in 1995. The band released their debut album in 1996 after recruiting guitarist Jody Porter and drummer Brian Young, with Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood splitting songwriting duties.

Over the course of his career, the talented songwriter won three Emmys and a Grammy and was nominated for Oscars and Tonys.

Casual fans probably know him best for the hit “Stacy’s Mom” that he co-wrote and recorded with Fountains of Wayne and was later recorded by the band Bowling for Soup.
