Born Mark William Lanegan on November 25, 1964 in Washington state and best known as the vocalist for Screaming Trees from 1984-2000, Lanegan was recognizable for his very scratchy, baritone voice.

Screaming Trees were considered a pioneering Grunge band that rose to fame in the early 90’s as the underground movement went mainstream with plenty of radio and MTV play. The group had a top 10 single with “Nearly Lost You” from their 1992 album ‘Sweet Oblivion’.
When Screaming Trees broke up in 2000, Lanegan became a frequent collaborator with Queens of the Stone Age between 2000-2014.
Between 1990 and 2020, he is credited with releasing 12 solo records.
Lanegan also authored 5 books.
- I Am the Wolf: Lyrics & Writings (2017)
- Sing Backwards and Weep (2020)
- Plague Poems with Wesley Eisold (2020)
- Leaving California (2021)
- Devil in a Coma (2021
