A fatal stabbing occurred outside of Phish’s concert at Virginia’s Hampton Coliseum on Friday night (September 19), resulting in one death and two injuries, according to police reports. The altercation occurred in the unofficial vending area parking lot around 9:30 p.m., with the suspect fleeing the scene. Authorities identified all parties involved and deemed the incident isolated. Emergency responders treated the victims, with one succumbing to injuries at the hospital and two others receiving medical care, including one walk-in with non-life-threatening wounds. Phish expressed their grief over the tragedy in a statement on Instagram: “We don’t have more information than what has been reported by the police, but what we do know is upsetting enough. We are deeply saddened by this and our hearts go out to all of those affected.” Phish’s remaining concerts at the venue on September 20 and 21 proceeded as planned, with the jam band recently announcing their traditional New Year’s Eve residency at Madison Square Garden from December 28–31.
