Violet Grohl reached a new milestone in her music career this week with her first television performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. During the appearance, the singer-songwriter performed “Bug in the Cake,” a track from her recently released debut album Be Sweet to Me.
Backed by her live band, Grohl delivered the song with a grunge-inspired sound that reflects many of the influences behind her music. The performance marked her national TV debut and introduced a wider audience to her solo work.
“Bug in the Cake” is featured on Be Sweet to Me, an album released in late May. The project was recorded with producer Justin Raisen and draws inspiration from alternative rock and indie music that emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Although Grohl has appeared on stage alongside her father, Dave Grohl, and taken part in several notable performances over the years, the Fallon appearance placed the focus on her own material. The television debut arrives as she continues promoting her first album and expanding her presence as a recording artist.
