In episode five of The Roots of Alternative Podcast, Jack and dXn reflect on the alternative music & pop culture of the year 1984.

The tone of this year felt somewhat different for Jack as bands like Depeche Mode, Hüsker Dü, and Sonic Youth take on a darker edge. 1984 also had hits from David Bowie, Echo & The Bunnymen, R.E.M., and dare we say, Prince?!

Also featured in this episode… dXn gave Jack the realization that the reason he became a U2 fan was because of an Apple iTunes commercial from 2004. Here’s that commercial:
