SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The holiday season is a time for giving back, and for the eighth straight year, 95X is proud to bring back the Winter Warmer.
What started as a simple way to help local children stay warm during the coldest months of the year has become an annual tradition powered by the generosity of the 95X community. Once again, we’re collecting new and gently used winter coats, hats, and gloves for students at Dr. Weeks Elementary School in Syracuse.
While winter temperatures can be challenging for any family, the need is especially significant at Dr. Weeks. According to U.S. News & World Report, approximately 81% of students at the school are considered economically disadvantaged, meaning many families face additional financial challenges when it comes to providing essential winter clothing.
A warm coat, a pair of gloves, or a winter hat may seem like a small donation, but for many students, those items can make a meaningful difference throughout the season. Having proper winter clothing helps children stay comfortable on their way to and from school and allows them to focus on learning instead of the cold.
That’s why the Winter Warmer continues to be one of our favorite community initiatives each year. It’s a chance for listeners, local businesses, and the entire Central New York community to come together and directly impact the lives of local kids.
The drive will continue through November 24, with donations being accepted at the 95X studios. We’re especially looking for winter coats in sizes XS through Medium, along with hats and gloves.
A special thank you goes out to Homer Men & Boys, whose support helps make this year’s Winter Warmer possible.
