Friday & Saturday September 20th & 21st

Hundreds of low-priced books, DVDs, puzzles, and books-on-tape will be offered at the Friends of NOPL Cicero annual book sale on September 20 and 21 at the Northern Onondaga Public Library in Cicero barn (NOPL). This annual event hosted by volunteers raises funds for educational programs, musical performances, fixtures, furniture, and special community events for the library.

There will be a preview night on Friday, September 20, 4pm—6pm with a $5 admission fee for first selection (books are individually priced). On Saturday, September 21, from 9:30 am to 3pm, items can be purchased by the bag for $5 (bags provided). The NOPL Cicero barn is located behind the library at 8686 Knowledge Lane, Cicero.

September 29th Fall Farm Day event at ARISE at the Farm, with Tangled Roots and Bull & Bear, hayrides, nature walks.

About the event: As the only kosher Jewish festival in CNY, KlezFest is a celebration of Jewish music, culture and community. With a variety of local food vendors, crafts, activities and live music, this event will have something the whole family can enjoy. Emmy-award winning songwrite Hughie Stone-Fish will be emceeing the event with The Klezmers headlining. Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Saturday, September 21st

Clay Historical Association’s Fall Festival
Clay Historical Association is hosting its annual fall festival on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 11-3pm at Clay Historical Park, 4939 State Route 31, Clay (behind Immanuel Lutheran Church). The Cigarville Railroad Station, 1900’s replica log cabin, Sellen-Weller barn, and Visitor Center will be open to the public.
Come and check out the numerous vendors (artwork, tee-shirts, jewelry, nail polish, Pampered Chef, Beef Jerky, homemade quilts and crafts, etc) and demos (Karate John’s and Civil War Reenactors, etc) throughout the park. Kid attractions are areas to play games, face painting, Special Kidz Sensory Gym, and NOPL Pop-Up Library.
Bring your appetite for apple fritters, hotdogs, nachos & cheese, popcorn, and drinks. Dave’s Finger Lickin’ Chicken will be there from 11:30-sold out ($15.00- ½ half chicken, beans, salt potatoes, and a dinner roll).

Clay Historical Association

Military historian Hal Flickinger, Director of the Society for the Preservation of Military History will give a presentation discussing the vital role that this region played on the world stage during the war and its impact on the American Revolution.
During the French and Indian War, New York (NY) played a crucial role as a battleground, with major conflicts occurring around Lake George, Fort William Henry and Fort Ticonderoga, which were strategically located in the state’s northern region. Yet it was in the middle of the state, particularly in CNY where British forces in New York struggled against French troops and their Native American allies to control key waterways and trade routes in the area.

Clay Historical Association’s Open House
Sunday, October 20, 2024
1-3pm
Come and tour the Cigarville Railroad Station and learn of its important history in Clay. Numerous train artifacts can be found in the station. The Sellen-Weller 1840’s barn has two floors of agricultural artifacts donated from local Town of Clay farmers. The log cabin is a replica of the first cabin built in Clay and houses many household items and furnishings from the 19th century.The Visitor Center has many artifacts from the early 1900’s: loom, quilt, organ, and etc. Come and take a trip down memory lane. All are welcome.
