The Red Hot Chili Peppers announced the return of former guitarist John Frusciante late last year, so this really shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Drummer Chad Smith recently sat down with Rolling Stone to discuss his new art exhibit and was given strict instructions to NOT talk about the band, but lucky for us, he ignored those instructions. Chad confirmed the band is “writing a new record” and went on to say “For now, we’ll mostly be concentrating on new songs and writing a new record.
