Today on Billie Joe Armstrong‘s ‘No Fun Mondays’ he paid special tribute to the life of Adam Schlesinger who died of complications from COVID-19 at the age of 52.

The Green Day front man released a remake of the theme song to the Tom Hanks movie by same name, “That Thing You Do”. The song was nominated for an Academy Award back in 1997.

Best known by Alternative music fans as the bassist of Fountains of Wayne, Adam Schlesinger wrote dozens of songs used on stage and screen as well.

The surviving members of Fountains of Wayne will be performing as part of the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund’s JERSEY 4 JERSEY livestream event, which will take place this Wednesday (4/22) starting at 7PM ET. Sharon Van Etten will handle bass duties for the band that evening.
