The Killers are showing their support for Black Lives Matter‘s protest marches with a new version of “Land of the Free”. Sunday, the band released a version of the song containing alternate lyrics pertaining to the awful events that happened on May 25th in Minneapolis.

When Brandon texted me these new lyrics I cried and felt the heart he put into them. It was an honor to be a part of this. Let’s “break the cycle” of racism and injustice by starting inside of each of us and those we are close to and also work to spread it out from there until it really is the land of the free. There are too many stains on the flag. #blacklivesmatter

Brandon Flowers invited Robert Loud, who has toured with the band, to be a part of the new version and Loud said that he was honored to be asked and he hopes it will help “break the cycle of racism and injustice”.
